Program or Service Description:
Our agency provides screening to all children 3 years of age and up. We provide service to all licensed day care providers, public schools, private schools, and early childhood screenings. Vision and hearing screenings are done to identify children with vision or hearing impairments unidentified in their normal daily activities. These impairments not only affect the eyes and ears of the child, but the total child. Children with impaired vision often are not aware of their handicap, therefore they do not complain or seek help. Children with impaired hearing may have language and speech delay and they may compensate for their hearing defect by becoming overly aggressive, defiant, or disobedient. Others withdraw, avoid or shun group activities.
